Our first Portuguese immersion trip in Viana was exactly what we hoped it would be: a small group of learners sharing the same goal — to develop their Portuguese through immersion.
A big thankyou to our first participants, who threw themselves into every activity. From conversation lessons about local culture, city tours, cooking workshops, bolas de Berlim and, of course, Vinho Verde; our partners were delighted to share the history and culture of Viana with such an enthusiastic group – all in Portuguese.
But most importantly, what made the difference was the group itself: the patience and encouragement you gave each other to keep speaking helped everyone feel comfortable and supported. By the end of the week, you were speaking Portuguese from breakfast to dinner and only growing in confidence.
This trip reinforced what we already suspected: immersion leads to progress. We can’t wait to share the details of our Autumn trips.
