Ponte de Lima: September 2026

Our trip to Ponte de Lima with Talk the Streets brought a group of Portuguese learners into the heart of one of Portugal’s oldest towns — out of the classroom and into everyday life.​

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and threw themselves into every activity. From conversation classes and interactive tours to a cooking workshop and the vindima (grape harvest), our partners in Ponte de Lima welcomed the group with real warmth, sharing the traditions of the Minho — all in Portuguese.

What stood out most was the energy and enthusiasm of the group. Everyone kept the conversation going, encouraged each other to have a go, and took every chance to speak, whether in the vineyard, the kitchen or around the table at dinner. By the end of the retreat, Portuguese had become the natural language of the group.

Ponte de Lima showed us that the best way to learn a language is to live in it.
